Coach Andreas is beginning his fourth year of coaching for his alma mater. Andreas is a former Brenham Cub alumnus, playing baseball for the Cubs from 2003 – 2006. His senior year with the Cubs brought his favorite game ever - the perfect game pitched by Jason Gurka.
Upon graduation from Brenham High School in 2006, Andreas was selected as a 2006 Louisville All-American. He attended Angelina Junior College where he played under Jeff Livin. After three years at Angelina, Coach Andreas continued his playing career under Coach Mark Johnson at Sam Houston State University from 2009 – 2011 where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Health. While playing for the Bearkats, he was twice selected to the 1st Team All-Southland Conference. During his senior season at SHSU, the Seattle Mainers drafted Andreas. 2012 – 2013 was Coach Andreas’ last season of professional baseball as he played for the River City Rascals of the Frontier League.
Andreas knew he wanted to be a coach after learning so much from the many great coaches that he worked with throughout his baseball career. Coach Andreas has learned a lot from watching other coaches and their ways of handling various situations during both practices and games. He wanted to share the experiences and knowledge he acquired from them with his own players. Andreas believes baseball is just a game, and when it starts to feel like more than that, you’ve lost the love of the game. He believes in making his players compete and making sure they are never “satisfied”. Every single day there is an opportunity for self-improvement both on the field and off. Andreas hopes his players see him as a fun coach who cares about the players and the game of baseball.
Andreas’ second season as a Brenham baseball coach was a great experience; he was able to learn a great deal from fellow coaches and the players. Coach Andreas still considers his teammates from the 2006 Brenham Cubs amongst his favorite Cubs of all time. He is also very fond of the Cubs he has the opportunity to coach and watch play as they progress through high school.
When not coaching the Cubs, Coach Andreas is a Special Education teacher at Brenham High School. He enjoys watching the Dallas Cowboys win on Sundays, being with family, and catching more fish than Coach Marik.
Coach Andreas and his wife Shannon have been happily married for two years and are super excited about their future softball star Aria, expected to make her debut in June!
